Blaze Type’s New Type Release: Massilia

New from Blaze Type is Massilia; a tribute to Marseille. The Lyon-based type foundry’s latest typeface family is inspired by Roger Excoffon’s famous Antique and the boldness of Marseille city’s borough and inhabitants. Balancing between brush-like features and geometric ends it brings a perfect balance to the rhythmic of a text layout.

The font allows a designer to be able to harvest the full strength of its glyphs’ anatomy when being displayed in larger sizes, and in bold versions, such as Ultra. However, it is surprisingly soft and delicate when used in lighter weights and in smaller sizes. This typeface family comes with 7 different weights, from Moderate to Ultra, with their matching obliques.

Massilia demonstrates two very distinct temperaments, bringing forward both strength and delicateness. “Massilia is a song to the sea, a speech with an accent, a chant in the tribune” summarise the foundry.

This extensive typeface family was designed by Matthieu Salvaggio and is available now in 14 styles. Check the font out here.
